SEASON CONCEPT

In recent years, White Mountaineering interprets the functionality of the outdoor and sportswear as travelling
and is searching for a new life experience through the garments in various places. It is not just dressing up
but styling yourself for occasions and giving meanings to the products.

For example, for 2.5 hours from Tokyo to the atelier in the mountain in Nagano I think about the operability of
the car or the motorbike. At 1,200 meters up in the mountain, I look for the garments that can be layered with
feeling the temperature difference. I design while experiencing the comfort in the urban city and in the
mountain. By listening to the music or doing sports, I prioritize the concept of enjoying the life as much as
designing. I am convinced stronger now as I joined the big project of vacation home/hotel in Nagano.

This lifestyle is feasible now as the technology is evolved and you can access to the data through cloud in the
city and in the mountain. I have been working in the fashion industry for 24 years and the means of designing
have been changed completely. This evolution of the technology is not only for information but also for the
production. The development of the product such as functional materials or the elasticity, 3D design and CAD
made a great progress. Now the designer needs to catch up to these kind of improvements as well.

However, there are something that has not changed. The most important thing for me is to travel and
dressing up during the trip or for the occasion and that feeling remains the same for a long time. Dressing is
always keeps bringing great pleasure despite the fact that we need to pursue the evolving technology.

I have been imagining myself traveling to the ocean, the mountains, the prairie, or the city I have never been
to throughout this collection. I defined “The field in which we wear clothes is all outdoor” 19 years ago. Since
then I had many experiences through the production of the clothes and that made my current style. The
theme is unplugged as now I would like to suggest to unplug and enjoy the journey.
